Job Summary

The Project Risk Management Manager is dedicated to identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks that could threaten the successful delivery of projects. This role involves embedding risk management practices into the entire project lifecycle, from initiation to closure, to protect project scope, budget, and timelines. By providing strategic oversight and actionable mitigation plans, this manager ensures that potential threats are proactively addressed and opportunities are captured. The purpose is to instill confidence in project execution and safeguard the organization’s strategic investments from uncertainty.

Principal Responsibilities :

A. Strategic Framework & Governance

  • Risk Management Framework Development: Establish, implement, and maintain the project risk management framework, including policies, procedures, methodologies, and risk appetite thresholds for the project portfolio.
  • Project Risk Governance & Reporting: Chair risk review boards and provide regular, comprehensive risk reporting to project sponsors, senior leadership, and steering committees, highlighting critical risks, mitigation effectiveness, and overall project exposure.

B. Core Risk Process Execution

  • Proactive Risk Identification & Analysis: Facilitate risk workshops and interviews across all project phases to identify potential threats and opportunities. Lead qualitative and quantitative risk analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations) to assess impact on project objectives (cost, schedule, scope, quality).
  • Risk Mitigation & Response Planning: Develop, document, and oversee the implementation of robust risk response plans and contingency measures. Ensure risk owners are assigned and action plans are executed.
  • Continuous Risk Monitoring & Control: Monitor the risk landscape for trigger conditions and new emerging risks. Track the status of identified risks and the effectiveness of mitigation actions, updating the project risk register accordingly.

C. Leadership & Integration

  • Risk Tool & System Management: Select, implement, and manage risk management software and tools to enable efficient tracking, analysis, and reporting of project risks.
  • Leadership, Training & Culture: Lead and mentor project teams and junior risk staff on risk management principles. Foster a culture of proactive risk identification and open communication throughout the organization.
  • Integration with Project Management: Ensure risk management is fully integrated into the project lifecycle, from initiation and planning to execution and closure, including change control processes.
