Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance) – Singapore

Job Type: Full Time

Job Description

Senior Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance) – Singapore

Permanent role

This is an engineering-focused role requiring strong familiarity with API standards.

Candidates with refinery, petrochemical, LNG terminal or chemical plant experience, relevant certifications, experience in engineering calculations and analysis and solid expertise in static equipment, will be highly regarded.

The role sits within the site Mechanical team and provides technical and maintenance support to both Operations and Project teams. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of terminal assets from a mechanical discipline perspective.

In addition, the role involves establishing, reviewing, and overseeing mechanical design elements for new equipment and asset enhancement activities, as well as implementing minor mechanical engineering projects, while maintaining the overall mechanical integrity of the terminal.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and maintenance support to terminal Operations teams, including the development of maintenance strategies focused on equipment reliability, compliance, spares management, and preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Lead maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, commissioning, and replacement activities for mechanical static equipment and piping systems.
  • Manage in-house contractors and equipment vendors to execute mechanical works and improvements within the terminal, ensuring safe execution and gas supply reliability.
  • Ensure that modified or newly built mechanical systems (e.g. pumps, pressure vessels, safety devices) comply with applicable regulations and industry best practices, and are safe to operate, fit for purpose, maintainable, and reliable.
  • Manage statutory equipment registers (lifting machines, lifting gears, pressure vessels, safety valves, etc.) and ensure timely inspection and servicing in accordance with statutory and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions, including analysis related to vibration, RT, UT, oil analysis, and other predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Maintain historical records for static and rotating equipment, including running hours, shutdown data, production loss events, engineering documentation, and applicable codes and standards for compliance purposes.
  • Lead technical discussions and manage project schedules and costs, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and vendors on end-of-life and improvement projects using the SLNG Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including government agencies, on approvals and risks associated with mechanical system shutdowns that may impact gas send-out.
  • Participate in RCA, RBI, HAZID, HAZOP, and model review studies for mechanical packages, coordinating and closing out mechanical-related actions.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and assume assigned roles and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering or technical discipline.
  • Professional accreditation or membership with recognised engineering bodies is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in plant equipment maintenance, including rotating and static equipment, preferably within oil, petrochemical, or related industries.
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience with in-service pipeline inspection. Experience in LNG, natural gas, or other hydrocarbon industries is an advantage.
  • Relevant technical experience in maintaining mechanical and machinery systems such as compressors, pumps, pressure vessels, hydraulic components, and piping systems.
  • Familiarity with local codes, regulations, standards, and equipment inspection and scheduling requirements.
  • Certifications in API, vibration analysis, or other relevant inspection and analysis standards will be highly regarded.
