Director – Transportation & Installation (EPCI) – Dubai

Staff role, reports to VP – PROJECTS

Role Overview

Provide leadership and accountability for all Transportation & Installation (T&I) activities across complex EPC projects. Responsible for strategy development, marine operations governance, offshore execution, subcontractor management, and safe, efficient project delivery from concept through completion.

The role ensures integration across engineering, fabrication, marine operations, and commissioning teams.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Governance

  • Define overall T&I execution philosophy, contracting approach, marine spread strategy, and risk mitigation framework.
  • Establish standards for heavy lifting, marine transport, offshore installation, and campaign execution.
  • Develop organizational capability within T&I functions.

Project Delivery

  • Oversee:
    • Load-out planning and execution
    • Sea fastening and transport engineering
    • Marine transportation and towing operations
    • Offshore installation of structures, modules, and associated systems
    • Offshore campaigns and demobilization
  • Conduct readiness reviews and ensure execution aligns with approved procedures.
  • Manage offshore constraints including weather windows and vessel availability.

Technical Assurance

  • Review and validate installation engineering deliverables such as:
    • Lift studies and rigging designs
    • Stability and ballast calculations
    • Motion analyses
    • Installation procedures and contingency plans
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, class, and marine warranty requirements.

HSE & Risk Management

  • Champion a strong offshore safety culture.
  • Ensure adherence to marine and offshore operational standards.
  • Oversee risk assessments and emergency preparedness planning.

Commercial & Contracting

  • Develop contracting strategies for vessels and marine subcontractors.
  • Support tender evaluations and scope development.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and manage claims and variations.

Stakeholder Interface

  • Act as primary liaison for marine warranty surveyors, port authorities, classification bodies, clients, and key subcontractors.
  • Ensure effective cross-functional coordination across project disciplines.

Candidate Profile

  • 15+ years in offshore, marine, or EPC construction.
  • Minimum 7+ years leading large-scale T&I scopes.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex offshore campaigns.
  • Strong technical credibility in heavy lift, marine transport, and offshore installation.
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Marine, or equivalent).
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management capability.
